Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to
Define and explain the meaning and differences between mentoring, coaching and personal counseling
Understand why, how and when mentoring is applied in the workplace
Understand and explain the benefits of mentoring and why mentoring sometimes fails
Analyze and identify personal mentoring styles and how to apply this knowledge in mentoring relationships
Learn the skills, characteristics and qualifications of the ideal mentor
Improve communication skills to enhance the effectiveness and quality of mentoring sessions
Learn and apply a variety of mentoring strategies, tools and techniques
Understand the practical application of mentoring and how to establish and manage mentoring relationships in the workplace
Methodology
Participants will be involved in intensive role-playing to help them develop their coaching and mentoring skills. Participants will also give short presentations to groups to demonstrate their understanding of the course material. Individual and group activities will be used to solve exercises and study cases. Participants will have the opportunity to assess their personal coaching and mentoring styles using an effective self-assessment toolkit.
